    Yea is situated in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, north east of Melbourne. The district is a prosperous pastoral region with cattle and fat lambs being the most prominent stocks. Dairying is also an important contributor to the local economy. Boating and fishing in the Goulburn River and nearby streams attract tourists to the region, as do the local scenery and visitor facilities.
