    commitment to covering local events from local government to community organisations, social and sporting events as well as
    tackling the issues that matter.
    Forbes, situated on the banks of the Lachlan River is right in the heart of the Lachlan Valley and has much to offer. An extremely well
    appointed shopping centre serves the shire while Lake Forbes adds beauty and an entertaining area.
    The Forbes Shire is strong in most areas of dryland and irrigation agriculture – including fruit and vegetables – thanks to its location
    along the Lachlan River.
    The establishment of a 2,000 head dairy in the shire and the modern saleyards complex at Daroobalgie, just north of the town on the
    Newell Highway further strengthens the economic stability of this primarily agricultural region and paves the way for future growth.
